On the 15th November 2006 we were allowed to attend when the council's agent went round the new centre to check it over ahead of the council taking it on.
The Express and Echo were there and there was a report in the 16th November edition.

The party consisted of Trevor Sharp (Chair of ECA), Alan Lukehurst (Exeter City Council), Pat Murphy (Treasurer of ECA) plus representatives from the city, councils agent, Express and Echo, the services engineers and the builders.

The front of the completed building

Outside the front door (at last!) We had wondered if we would ever get here.

The entrance Corridor - with the store at the end. The lift and stairs are to the left.

The main hall looking from the main door.

The main hall looking good

Looking towards the kitchen and serving area from the door of the chair store.

The hall looks great

Top of the stairs (there will be a toughened glass panel here)

The ladies toilet - no loo roll holders yet

The ladies have a green theme

The gents have a blue accent

The cupboard under the stairs - the water main and the pump for the sprinklers

The Lift, ready for lift off?

The control panel for the heating and air handling - we were told don't fiddle!

Cables everywhere

Meters

The top of the stairs

The gallery will be a useful space

The small meeting room

The small meeting room looking towards the patio. Note the fences through the window.

The stairs even  look great.

Then we took a look at the shop. Since whoever rents it will fit it as they want the ceiling has been left in basic condition.
