On
the 11th May 2006 we were allowed to visit the unfinished Community
Centre and Shop.
We were able to check on progress and the visit
will help us in planning for running and using the centre.
The party consisted of Tor Hodgeson (Exeter Community Initiatives, Community
Development
Worker), Trevor Sharp (Chair of ECA), Jo Andrews (Secretary of ECA),
Alan Lukehurst (Exeter City Council), Alistair Macintosh (ECI)
& Lucinda Bell (ECC Splash co-ordinator).
Entering the front door (at last!)
We had wondered if we would ever get here.
The front entreance (lift to the right)
The Centre Office
The doorway of the office
The office (not very exciting really)
The bottom of the stairs (still full of scaffolding)
The top of the stairs
Meeting on the Gallery
The Gallery will be a useful space.
The main meeting hall
One of the light wells
The boilers and underfloor heating in the kitchen area
(this will be covered when finished)
The bar/servery area
The Chair store at the end of the hall
Looking out to the patio
A few fun pictures of things you will never see in the finished centre
The small meeting room
Views of the patio and side path. There are various fences still to
install.
The centre looks great. Our thanks go to Neil Plank (site manager) and
all the builders and contractors who have brought it this far.
